An Insurance Agency Committed to the Community
Reel Insurance Agency was founded in 1951 by William A. Reel, Jr. Mr. Reel was active in the community, serving as mayor of Edgefield, as well as serving in both the South Carolina House and Senate. In addition to serving the local community, Mr. Reel also served in the South Carolina National Guard and retired as a Brigadier General in 1978.
In 1965, James E. (Jimmy) Padgett joined the agency. Mr. Padgett was also active in the community, serving on the Edgefield County Council as well as being in the South Carolina National Guard. He became a partner in the agency in 1977 and the sole owner after Mr. Reel’s death in 1997.
In 1993, James T. (Tim) Padgett joined the agency after graduating college. Following in the footsteps of his mentors, Tim is also active in the community, having served as chairman of the Edgefield County Hospital Board of Directors and Master of Concordia #50 Masonic Lodge. He has also served as a youth baseball and basketball coach. Tim became the owner of the agency in 2014, after the passing of his father, James E. Padgett.
